Biography
Katia Belas graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from Federal University of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and has since worked as a teacher of Scene Design, Costume Design and Basic Lighting for Theatre at the Criar Institute, Viradouro Samba School for the Rio de Janeiro Carnaval Parade, the Municipal Theatre of Niteroi for Elaine Guedes concert, and Preview Entertainment in Brazil, where she ended up working with Latin Pop Ricky Martin. Because of her work at his concert, the management staff of Ricky Martin also invited her to assist them personally during the shoot of a Pepsi-Cola commercial in which Ricky Martin starred.
Katia's passion for film making came after course given by the filmmaker Chris Rodrigues in which she ended up producing two shorts and assisting in one feature film still in Brazil. In 1999 she came to the United States of America to improve her skills by taking courses in Film and TV at UCLA Extension, which has led her to work in TV and Film productions such as Crush (2000) from USA Network, Jane Bond (2001) and a short film from Trillion Entertainment. She has worked on various independent projects such as 'Crazy Jane' (digital feature), in which she held the position of 2nd Assistant Director, and 'Sin in My Eyes' (also a digital feature), in which she held the position of 1st Assistant Director even before finishing school at UCLA.

Katia's experience has also afforded her the opportunity to work in the production offices of Lynda Obst (Lynda Obst Productions) where she was involved in the development of "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" (Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson) and "Abandon" (Katie Holmes and Benjamin Pratt), based out of Paramount Pictures, and in the personal office of Executive Producer Dan Halsted (Halsted Pictures) where she helped in the development office for Witchblade(2000), The Day Reagan Was Shot (2001), Serving Sara, and Beyond Borders.
After finishing UCLA Film program, she moved to New Jersey but due to unforeseen circumstance she changed career and became a Real Estate Agent, holding the titles of CIA (Certified Investor Agent) and ultimately becoming a Broker. She works with sales, rentals and property management for about 12 years.
Katia's heart was still in the entertainment industry and in 2013, she fell in love with ASL (American Sign Language) and decided to start over and pursuit a career in film & TV again but this time working primarily with Deaf actors and crew. By 2015 she had produced some of the most inspiring films of her career; "The Strength Within You" film-series has evolved into a many opportunities including, writing, directing, editing and acting, as she created some empowering messages through the art of motion pictures.
Katia loves to help people and thrive to make a better world to live in. Whether making her socially conscient movies or helping high-profile celebrities bring joy to the world, she truly believes that there is no better way to improve than creating new things, new ways, new opportunities, new art, spread the good, and always smile.
